Apple is thinking about adding a stylus to the iPhone, according to a new report from The Investor. Sources tell the site that engineers have recently started work on a new iPhone that comes with a digital pen.

“Apple is preparing to launch the phone as early as 2019,” an industry source told The Investor on condition of anonymity. “It is also in talks with a couple of stylus makers for a partnership.”

Back in 2016, the company debuted an Apple Pencil for the iPad Pro and has since been beefing up its Notes app and Markup features in iOS. The iPhone stylus will purportedly use supercapacitor technology; rather than an electro-magnetic resonance.

The A-series chip used in the iPhone will reportedly undergo a drastic upgrade to better support the handwriting functions of the planned stylus.
