Quanta Has Allegedly Begun Volume Shipments of a New 16-inch MacBook Pro [Report]

Posted October 21, 2019 at 4:46pm by iClarified
Quanta has allegedly begun volume shipments of a new 16-inch MacBook Pro ahead of its expected release later this month, reports DigiTimes.

We've been hearing for months that Apple plans on unveiling a 16-inch MacBook Pro with an 'ultra-thin bezel design' and a new scissor mechanism keyboard. According to the site, the laptop will use Intel's latest Coffee Lake Refresh or Ice Lake processors.

Supporting these reports is a recent discovery of a 16-inch MacBook Pro icon in the macOS 10.15.1 beta seeded to developers this month. That icon clearly shows a slimmer bezel than the 15-inch MacBook Pro but not much has changed design wise.

We're hopeful that Apple will announce a press event for the later this month but it's possible that the new MacBook Pro could be released without one. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

It seems apparent from all the conflicting ‘Pro’ MacBook Pro reports, that there will be no new MacBook Pro in 2019. What’s likely to happen instead is an announcement of a new model, which will only become available in late 2020. That means it will likely be the only big-ticket item if Apple releases a slew of products just after Black Friday but still in time for Christmas (new AirPod Pro, Apple Trackers, updated Powerbeats earphones, etc.). Thus, I suspect Apple will make a big deal about it, even if there zero chance it’ll be available for the 2019 Christmas season. All these ‘leaked’ reports are just Apple churning the water to keep people focused on Apple products over the season beside the lack of new products (other than the iPhone 11s, that is).

By the way. I love the included image, as it shows NO bezels whatsoever!

“Nothing much has changed design-wise” because there isn’t a large difference is the listed display size, thus most of us never expected a major upgrade. Personally, I’m hoping the Pro version of the 16-inch Mac Pro will wait for the late 2020 release date, as most of us are more interested in a stable keyboard than we are in additional overpriced features. Reliability first, rather then the latest flavor of the week, which is quickly erased in the next version.
