Spotify is rolling out three major updates to its lyrics experience today, expanding translations worldwide, adding offline access to song text for Premium subscribers, and surfacing lyric previews directly in the Now Playing view. The changes make lyrics easier to find and use across the platform.
The company is making lyric translations available to all users globally. Previously restricted to specific markets, the feature allows listeners to tap a translate icon on the lyrics card to view the text in their device's language, displayed directly beneath the original lines. This expansion brings Spotify's feature set closer to Apple Music, which highlighted its own lyric translation capabilities recently as part of a record-breaking year for its Services division.
For Premium subscribers, lyrics will now be saved automatically when tracks are downloaded for offline listening. This ensures the words are available even without a cellular or Wi-Fi signal, mirroring a feature Apple added to its native music app with the release of iOS 26.2 late last year.
Spotify is also updating the Now Playing view to display lyric previews directly beneath the album artwork or Canvas loop. Previously hidden behind a swipe, the text is now visible as a song plays. The layout is rolling out to both Free and Premium users on iOS, Android, and tablet, though users can disable it via the three-dot menu if they prefer a cleaner look.
