...going back to watch that presentation again...there is also the addition of a "groups" icon on the top left corner...maybe you can categorize your contacts like palm does...i.e. personal/business/etc...can't wait to find out more in June when it's released...mostly for the fact that all of the snow will be gone where I'm from!

hey wombat...I don't think so...I have no conctacts beginning with a # although I did copy some contacts from my sim card and for some reason they came under a # sign...when I edited the contacts they were removed...either way, I still think if apple were to include a search function, they wouldn't add it there in that small spot...you'd think they would put a search icon at the top of the screen where it says "all contacts" maybe on the far top left, opposite the "+" button...

isn't the # sign only shown when you have a contact beginning with a number, i.e. "1derland"?

interesting...but pretty small to use to start a search for a contact...you use that alphabet list to scroll through your contacts a little faster...a search button should be a little bigger...I also just checked my iphone's contact list...mine in 1.1.4 has a # sign underneath the z which is missing in that photo of 2.0 during that conference...maybe it was a typo and they meant it as a # sign to begin at the top of the alphabet...good eye though to whoever spotted it...
