Apple is working on a new 27-inch Studio Display that could arrive by the end of 2025, according to a new report from Ross Young, founder of DisplaySearch and DSCC.
The new display will allegedly feature mini-LED backlighting, an upgrade from the LED backlight on current models. Mini-LED displays offer improved contrast and black levels, higher brightness, excellent color accuracy, and better energy efficiency.
The Studio Display was first introduced in 2022 and retails for $1,599. Notably, it's on sale today for $1,299.99 at Amazon. It features a 5120-by-2880 resolution at 218 pixels per inch, 600 nits of brightness, a 12MP Ultra Wide camera with Center Stage, a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio, "studio-quality" microphones, one Thunderbolt 3 port, three USB-C ports, and 96W of power delivery.
It's unclear if Apple plans to upgrade any of its other specifications; however, reporter Mark Gurman may share additional details in his upcoming newsletter.
