A future iPad Pro may feature significantly narrower bezels and no notch, according to a new rumor from leaker Instant Digital. In a post on Weibo, Instant Digital suggests Apple is working on a redesign that would bring the iPad's display borders to a level comparable with Samsung's Galaxy Tab Ultra.
Good news — the iPad Pro is finally getting narrow bezels. I estimate the level will be similar to the Samsung Tab Ultra, but without a notch. (Not necessarily the next generation.)
The post's claim that the next iPad Pro may have no notch refers more to Apple maintaining a clean, uninterrupted display despite slimmer bezels. While the iPad Pro has never had a notch, shrinking the bezels further would require Apple to fit the Face ID sensors and front camera into an even tighter space — or possibly explore under-display technology. The idea of under-display Face ID on an iPad aligns with other recent speculation, including a separate report about an 18.8-inch foldable iPad Pro prototype also testing the technology.
This move toward a bezel-less design isn't limited to the iPad. Apple is also rumored to be planning a bezel-free iPhone in 2027, which could hide its camera and sensors beneath the screen.
The leaker was careful to note that this redesign is "not necessarily the next generation." According to a recent report from Mark Gurman, Apple is already in the advanced testing phase for an M5-powered iPad Pro expected to launch later this year. That suggests the rumored bezel-less design may arrive with a later model, possibly in 2026 or beyond.
