Apple has seeded the first developer betas of iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 to developers for testing. The build number for today's release is 23E5207q.
Originally, iOS 26.4 was tipped to be the launchpad for a massive Siri overhaul backed by Google's Gemini models. However, more recent reporting suggests Apple ran into performance snags during internal testing. Those major AI upgrades may now be pushed back to iOS 26.5 or possibly even iOS 27.
Even if the headline AI features are missing, the update is still expected to offer plenty to explore. We saw code in earlier builds pointing to a redesigned Health app that streamlines metric logging, which was likely intended to support a planned health coaching service. Other features that have been spotted in development include folders for Freeform boards and a system-level credit card autofill for third-party apps.
The new beta arrives just a few weeks after the public release of iOS 26.3, which introduced a native transfer tool for Android users and unlocked Notification Forwarding for wearables in the EU.
Developers can download the update from the Apple Developer Center. It is also available over-the-air via Settings > General > Software Update if you have the iOS 26 Developer Beta option selected. We're installing the update now and will report back with any new features or changes we discover.
