Images of what appear to be black components for an unreleased Apple Vision headset have surfaced online, fueling speculation that Apple is testing a new color option for a future model.
Shared by X user LusiRoy8, the photos show power straps and audio pods finished in a shade that is not currently available on the Vision Pro. The hardware appears nearly identical to the audio and strap assemblies used on the existing headset. One image shows several of the parts laid out on a workbench, while another appears to show dozens of the components packaged together. The leaker claims the parts belong to an upcoming second-generation Vision Pro.
This is not the first time unreleased hardware tied to Apple's mixed-reality lineup has surfaced online. Previous rumors pointed to Apple testing a thinner device internally dubbed Vision Air that featured a Midnight exterior and titanium components. Images of similarly colored cables and connectors associated with the headset also leaked over the past year. However, Apple has since deprioritized its enclosed headset roadmap as attention increasingly shifts toward AI-powered wearables and smart glasses.
The status of a direct successor to the current hardware remains somewhat unclear. Apple recently reassigned engineering resources away from portions of the Vision Pro lineup following reportedly weak demand for the M5 refresh. Teams are now said to be focusing more heavily on lighter AI-driven products, including display-free smart glasses and camera-equipped AirPods. At the same time, reports indicate Apple has not abandoned future Vision devices entirely.
Apple last refreshed the Vision Pro with an M5 chip in late 2025.
