Apple Debuts Official Trailer for 'Tenzing' Starring Genden Phuntsok and Tom Hiddleston [Video]

Apple Original Films has released the official trailer for Tenzing, a new historical drama starring Genden Phuntsok as Himalayan mountaineer Tenzing Norgay and Tom Hiddleston as New Zealand climber Edmund Hillary. The film opens in select theaters on October 9, 2026, before its global Apple TV premiere on October 16.



Based on true events, Tenzing recounts how Norgay and Hillary became the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest. With encouragement from his wife, Dawa (Thinley Lhamo), Norgay finds an ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson (Caitríona Balfe). Together, they try to convince Colonel John Hunt (Willem Dafoe) that Norgay belongs on the British climbing team rather than serving it.


The story explores the cultural and class tensions surrounding the expedition alongside the physical dangers of the ascent. While the Western climbers view Everest as a peak to conquer, Norgay regards Chomolungma as a sacred mother goddess. The climb ultimately brings Norgay and Hillary together through mutual trust and respect.

Jennifer Peedom directs from a screenplay by Luke Davies, based on a story they developed together. Peedom, Davies, Desray Armstrong, Liz Watts, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman serve as producers, with Norbu Tenzing, Simon Gillis, and David Michôd executive producing. Tenzin Dalha also stars.
