Apple Forces Newsday to Stop Airing Viral Ad for its iPad App?

Apple has forced Newsday to stop airing an ad for their iPad application that shows the iPad being accidentally destroyed in an attempt to swat a fly, according to NetworkWorld.

The video disappeared from YouTube with Newsday saying: "We have taken the commercial 'Flypaper' down and its short, glorious run appears to be over." Newsday would not say why.

NetworkWorld has since received this message from someone wishing to stay anonymous:

"Newsday got a cease and desist letter threatening all of our apps, if we did not remove the commercial immediately. They took exception to the fact that the (iPad) glass shattered into large jagged pieces ... Your instincts are correct."

We've tried to embed a working copy of the video below... Hopefully it stays up.

That\'s a hilarious commercial, Apple has become so sensitive with bad publicity that they are making something that hardly affects them so outrageous. If anything, this is bad publicity for Newsday. Apple has little to do with how good (or bad) Newday\'s app is. By forcing Newsday to remove the commercial, they\'ve actually brought bad publicity on themselves!
