MuscleNerd has confirmed that iOS 5.0 Beta 3 can be jailbroken with RedSn0w .9.8b1.

Today's 5.0b3 can be jailbroken with last month's redsn0w http://is.gd/6eek4Y (point it at 5.0b1 IPSW..devs only please!)

Tethered jailbreaks are difficult. Many users prefer untethered jailbreaks.

Wow, I really admire you for still waiting for the unlock. iPhone dev community really let us down this time a lot and most people I know already given up.

I'd say to cut your losses dude and try to get rid of that locked phone and save for the unlocked ones that are being sold around now. I did. Waited for 1/2 year for the unlock. It didn't come out and I missed the opportunity for a sim service. So I traded my black 32Gb locked phone for a while 16Gb factory unlocked and still gave the guy $200 for his troubles.
