Apple to Appeal $1.17 Million Fine Levied By Italian Regulators

Apple has said it will appeal a $1.17 million fine levied by Italian regulators who found that Apple was selling 2 year warranties to customers when they were already entitled to a 2 year warranty by Italian law, reports The Register.

The fruitchomp firm reckons that despite the regulator's ruling it is complying with Italian law, and will be appealing against the decision by the regulator to fine the company $1.2m. The Italian authorities have accused Apple of failing to advise customers of their legal right to a two-year warranty, instead offering them one year and then promoting AppleCare as an optional extension, an accusation Apple denies.

Surprisingly, The Register says they received this news from Apple themselves despite being ignored by the company in the past.
