cclboss (2008-09-25 20:13:05) This is actually old news, since the iPhones in HK have ALWAYS been unlocked when they were sold on launch. That's totally true, i buy 2 iphone 3g 16GB white and Black for me and my wife at 3HK Shop! with there plan..before i inserted my old simcard from other Carrier namely (CSL hk) and it totally works, and at a time my wife go back to Philippines shes using her iphone using a local (SMartBuddy Simcard Prepaid) Actually Both iPhone already Jailbreaken! hehehe...

This is actually old news, since the iPhones in HK have ALWAYS been unlocked when they were sold on launch. In fact, if you take a HK iPhone to the US and ask AT&T to issue a SIM with iPhone plan, there is no commitment for two years since it shows in the phone's serial number that it is an unlocked phone.

I guess it's like the first sim you insert, you get locked to that network.. It's like that in most countries.. But you can choose any carrier.. You can get your iPhone unlocked in Australia directly by apple, legally, by paying some fee to the carrier.. Telstra charges $150 au while optus and vodafone charge $80 only.. And then you get settings on your itunes.. And you can insert any sim..
