A thief who attempted a snatch an iPhone from a woman in Manhattan got more than he bargained for when bystanders chased him down to make a citizens arrest.

Erika Silva, 23, was surfing the Internet outside her lower Manhattan office when Noah Udell blindsided her and attempted to make off with her iPhone. The two struggled for the phone but he snatched it and pushed her away.

Brian Hester and Chase Bunn were on a smoke break when they witnessed the attempted robbery.

"She was screaming, 'Help!' " Hester told The Post. "They were wrestling. He snatched the phone and pushed her."

Hester and Bunn took off after the man. "My coffee went everywhere, and my phone fell out of my pocket," Hester said. Bunn grabbed Udell first but hurt his knee in the process. Hester then knocked the suspect to the ground becoming slightly dazed himself in the fall.

A crowd began to gather with one man pinning Udell down with a foot to the throat. As Hester tried to hold off the angry bystanders, Udell jumped up and again began to flee.

Hester chased him down a second time, this time holding the crook until police arrived.

"I was like, 'I don't have all day to be chasing you,' " Hester said. "Thieves need to know, 'You're not going to get away with this in broad daylight.'"
