Samsung is reportedly preparing to release a Galaxy S4 variant dubbed the Galaxy S4 Zoom' which will feature a 16MP camera with optical zoom.
News of the device was leaked a couple days ago by SamMobile.
Samsung downgraded the screen size of the Galaxy S4 Zoom to a 4.3” qHD SAMOLED display. The phone self-will have 8 GB of storage, MicroSD up to 64 GB, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, A-GPS and Android OS Jelly Bean and of course Samsung’s own Touch Wiz Nature UX interface.
UnwiredView has now confirmed the existence of the device (model number SM-C1010, or SM-C101) by locating it on Bluetooth SIG.
Apple is expected to upgrade the camera in the next generation iPhone; however, there have been no indications as of yet that the device will feature optical zoom.

I'm an amateur photographer. However I like to carry a simple camera for everyday snaps. That simple cam is my iphone nowadays. There'll be no harm if optical zoom IS introduced to the iphone, rather a huge plus. Iphone takes everyday personal photos as good as any small camera, so why bother with another device and extra clutter?

Optical zoom is going to be really nice both taking a long distanced objectives and shooting videos. Although I wished that iPhone adopte this thing first ...
