Apple is turning to Samsung Display to help ease supply issues with the upcoming Retina Display iPad mini, according to a Nikkei report relayed by CNET.
LG Display and Sharp are both suppliers for the new display panel; however, Sharp is said to be suffering with low yields and even LG is "not close to full production."
As a result, Apple is reportedly turning to Samsung. However, Samsung won't be able to deliver at high volumes until well into next year, says the report. The severe shortages are described as 'more than Apple bargained for.'
Apple CEO Tim Cook said "it's unclear whether we'll have enough for the quarter or not" during the company's quarterly earnings call.
It's currently rumored that the new iPad mini will go on sale November 21st.

I'd say it's exactly the opposite. iDevices are nothing more than Samsung branded/Apple designed components.

Apple can't live without Samsung and that's the fact. Truth always remains and comes out often. Can't help it. Apple is just nothing without these companies especially Samsung. Hats off to Samsung for supporting apple even if they are rivals in business. That's what we call business and true sprit. Hats off

Without Apple, Samsung wouldn't be as big as they are. Alot of samsungs overall profits come from apple. And if wanted too, like they already have, they could easily drop Samsung as a supplier and find someone else. I've seen your previous comments in other articles. I'd say you need to get your facts straight. Why didn't Samsung sell the amount of phones they did? Because they sell 60 different models. They sold around 100-120 million not your so called 250. The funny thing is apple only sells 3 models and still made more than Samsung,Motorola,Lenovo,Nokia,Huawei and LG Combined this past quarter.

I'm all the way Apple but do you really think that Samsung needs Apple? Samsung is a huge company not just cell phones they make TV's refrigerators, washing machines and any other appliance you can think of, so if you look at the whole picture Apple is tiny compare to Samsung!!!
