Apple has revealed some more details about its new Photos application which is set to replace Aperture and iPhoto. Aperture development will end upon the launch of the new Photos app early next year.
ArsTechnica asked the company about expected features:
When asked about what Aperture-like features users can expect from the new Photos app, an Apple representative mentioned plans for professional-grade features such as image search, editing, effects, and most notably, third-party extensibility.

I hope it's free or at the very least a small upgrade charge from someone who bought aperture not too long ago. I didn't personally like Lightroom much, but I do value it's strength compared to aperture. Hopefully it can be the great equalizer between the two, ease of use and powerful.

Make it easy to import lightroom DNG, RAW and other files along with a photoshop like editor. Whalla,
end of adobe for me.
