The 128GB iPhone 6 Plus Takes Nearly 10 Seconds Longer to Boot Than the 16GB Model [Video]

In performing our Ultimate iPhone Boot Test we discovered that the 128GB iPhone 6 Plus takes nearly 10 seconds longer to boot than the 16GB model.

Both iPhones were freshly restored to iOS 8.0 before this video was taken.

Good for NAND checking. Apple can skip it but storage can be unreliable.

Its fine even if its slow. I would be upset only if not bending the way it supposed to be. Because, for me this is the only new and significant change in iPhone 6

It's fine for speed just like enough power for games. You are upset because you chose how to treat your iPhone that takes enough pressure to bend yet can't be as flexible as competition like the s5 snaps in half instantly. Good enough for a change to the iPhone 6 and 506 plus since a simple drop doesn't bend it.

The documents and iWork's stuff is preloaded on the 64gb and 128gb

The apps are preloaded but not downloaded or taking up any space. You have to downloaded them yourself if you want.

Can't really see what the problem is? All computers have been doing this since the dawn of (computer) time. Add more stuff, memory, storage, and what not, and the start-up diagnostics take longer. That's just the way it is.

All devices do a checksum/diagnostic of their data at boot. Takes long to check 128GB vs 64GB or 16GB naturally. I don't know how accurate this is. But a larger storage device should always take longer to boot. This is apart of self tests in the OS on both iOS and Android.

If iClarified count kindly explain why two different test with the exact same device only 1 day apart produces such widely disparate results, maybe I'll take this report seriously.

iClarified just did a boot test of the 128gb iPhone 6 Plus only yesterday, and the results weren't much different than the iPhone 6. Either you screwed up the test, or your margin of error is so great it renders the entire test pointless.

The 128GB iPhone 6 Plus used in this test is the same as the iPhone 6 Plus used in the Ultimate Boot Test. The results do line up for those two devices. This video shows how much faster the 16GB iPhone 6 Plus model is at booting.

wouldn't know where to start? They did he same idea of having different iPhones displayed for tests. How is that not starting?

I always thought the higher GB models had some sort of a speed boost. That's how it was back in the day.

Don't know about you but I smell a class action law suit on the horizon. If I reboot my phone 10 times a day and wasted 9.542 seconds each time that's 1.590333333 minutes I'm wasting each day that I wouldn't have if I had only purchased the 16GB. After a few months of that, it would equal a whole night of sleep and that's worth thousands. So apple, please send me a check for the amount you own me. also, how long does the 64GB model take to boot? I'm curious how much Apple owes those poor folks.

That's because of the preloaded bloat wear on the device that doesn't come on the 16gb

That's not true. I have a 128GB and there was no preloaded software that wasn't on the lower capacity versions. You are basing that on a rumor. Personally who cares how long it takes.

I wouldn't go that far. I've had various iPhones crash and reboot, and when you're in the middle of something, the wait can be annoying. If it happens several times, it's even worse. This is especially true as various apps try to get their apps to operate with the new device/iOS.

The iWork apps icons were preloaded on to the larger sized devices but not downloaded or taking up any memory space.
