Patriv also posted a mockup of what a horizontal video player might look like.

"Some of you asked if I did landscape mockups. Here is a video player mockup. Home button hidden until he rest of controls are visible."

Yesterday, @stroughtonsmith located the metrics for the iPhone 8's notched design in firmware for the Apple HomePod. These metrics give us an accurate picture of what the usable screen space will be.

Watching anything on this would be the equivalent of sitting in the cinema behind the world's most irritatingly tall person who has a permanent headphone-wearing obsession. If the notch is a thing - and it seems it may be - then surely they'd black bar the areas next to it for video, gameplay, document display etc. If not, who is actually going to buy this over a 7S (less expensive, maintains 'old fashioned' screen shape symmetry oh and Touch ID) or any other offering for that matter? Maybe this is all an elaborate hoax to throw folks from the real design! Imagine Sony or Samsung releasing a TV with a chunk hacked out of one side of the screen. Yeah, thought not. I've been an Apple ecosystem devotee for 20 years, this is the first time I've thought, in a negative fashion certainly, WT-actual-F!
