Apple has essentially confirmed the existence of a 'yet-to-be-released' tablet in its cease and desist letter to Valleywag.com
Yesterday, Valleywag announced a bounty of up to $100,000 for photo or video evidence of the Apple Tablet.
Today they received a Cease and Desist letter from Michael Spillner of the prestigious Menlo Park law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.
The information you are willing to pay for, such as photos of a yet-to-be-released product, constitutes Apple trade secrets. Apple invests substantial time and money in the development of its new products, which remain unannounced and proprietary to Apple. As your offer acknowledges, Apple has maintained the types of information and things that you are soliciting -- "how it'll work, its size, the name, the software," as well as any possible details about the product's appearance, features, and physical samples -- in strict confidence. Anyone who might have access to such information would be bound under the strictest contractual obligations not to disclose the information to third parties.
Valleywag is still encouraging anyone to submit information about the tablet from an anonymous email and while staying "within the bounds of the law".
