Apple will release a new 13-inch M3 MacBook Pro alongside new 13-inch and 15-inch M3 MacBook Air notebooks this year, according to 9to5Mac sources.

9to5Mac has now heard from independent sources that Apple is indeed working on a new generation MacBook Air in two different sizes: 13-inch and 15-inch. More than that, the company also plans to introduce an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro. What will these laptops have in common? They will be powered by the M3 chip.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro is purportedly codenamed J504 and will feature the same 8-core M3 chip as the MacBook Air. Apple allegedly considering dropping the 'Pro' branding for the model but ultimately decided not to.

In regards to the larger 15-inch MacBook Air, we've been hearing rumors about it since last year. Yesterday, reporter Mark Gurman once again confirmed its imminent release. If 9to5Mac is correct about the M3 chip, this would put the M-series chips in the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro on a one year release schedule.

While it seems probable that Apple will unveil the new M3 MacBooks at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, still believes that Apple will unveil the 15-inch MacBook Air in April.
