Opera has released the first update to its Mini Web Browser for the iPhone and iPod touch.
Get a fast, cost-efficient Web browsing experience. Use our powerful servers to compress data by up to 90% before sending it to your iPhone, so page-loads are lightning fast. Opera Mini is a breeze to use, and can synchronize data between your phone and computer.
Some great features of Opera Mini: ► Speed: Up to 6 times faster browsing, especially on slower or crowded networks. ► Data Savings: Compress up to 90% of data traffic. ► Speed Dial: Get to your favorite Web sites with a single tap. ► Visual Tabs: See all your open Web pages and quickly switch between them. ► Opera Link: Synchronize your bookmarks and Speed Dial with a Desktop PC or other mobile phone.
What's New In This Version: This is the first update of Opera Mini for iPhone. We are very grateful for the massive amount of support and feedback so far, and will work continuously to improve Opera Mini and release frequent updates.
► Fix for "stuck at first start-up" and issues caused by certain network conditions ► Hungarian language added ► Language fallback set to English, not Arabic ► Various smaller bug and stability fixes
You can download Opera Mini Web browser from the App Store for free.
Just installed it on my iphone, guess what? Iclarified.com does not displays the web page correctly!!!!!! Bad start, An by the way I did not feel the speed difference. I think I will stay with Safari.
What they don't tell you is that all your web traffic goes through their servers in Norway, to get optimized, compressed, and then decompressed on the iPhone, thus a faster browsing. Welcome privacy... They then know all the websites you visit, and not only their addresses, but the content as well.
True, but then again look at the information Google has about your shopping history, passwords, personal correspondence, etc through Gmail, Google Voice, etc, plus information ISP's collect and who knows what else and by what other companies (i.e. facebook). The information is already out in the hands of private companies, the government, and probably individuals. whats one more? maybe sensitive transactions should be saved for safari browser, or better yet a landline internet connection on your pc, but if you want mobile access, or even just internet access to sensitive materials there will always be a security risk.
