AT&T has announced that they plan to have their 14.4 Mbps HSPA Plus service available to 250 million subscribers by the end of the year, according to Reuters.
At the Reuters Global Technology Summit in New York on Friday, AT&T CEO John Stankey said, "We still have a tremendous amount of opportunity in wireless. We're at the front of that 10-year (growth) cycle in the mobile space today."
AT&T plans to double the speeds of its wireless data services, a move that would require an incremental investment of a few million dollars, a "rounding error" compared to AT&T's total capital spend of up to $19 billion for 2010.
The company also plans a test of residential broadband which would offer speeds of 80 megabits per second by June.
