A new leak has purportedly revealed the battery capacities for Apple's entire iPhone 17 lineup. The information, which is said to come from a Chinese regulatory filing, was shared by leaker ShrimpApplePro and includes different capacities for models with and without a physical SIM tray.
The filing indicates the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a 5,088mAh battery in its eSIM-only configuration, making it the first iPhone to cross the 5,000mAh mark and confirming rumors that it could feature the biggest iPhone battery yet. The version with a SIM tray is listed with a 4,823mAh capacity. The iPhone 17 Pro is also set for a significant upgrade, with a 4,252mAh battery for the eSIM model and a 3,988mAh cell for the variant with a SIM tray.
For the new iPhone 17 Air, the leak lists capacities of 3,149mAh (eSIM) and 3,036mAh (with tray). The smaller battery aligns with the device's rumored ultra-thin design, which has been described as "scary thin" in hands-on videos with dummy units. Previous reports have pointed to capacities in the 2800mAh to 2900mAh range and suggested Apple may be developing a dedicated battery case to address potential battery life concerns.
Finally, the leak lists a single 3,692mAh battery for the standard iPhone 17. The existence of different battery sizes for most models suggests Apple may be expanding its eSIM-only offerings to more countries this year, with the internal space saved by removing the SIM tray allowing for a slightly larger battery.
