M5 iPad Pro Allegedly Leaked, Unboxed, and Benchmarked [Video]

An unboxing and benchmark video of what is alleged to be Apple's M5 iPad Pro has been posted to YouTube by Russian tech channel Wylsacom—the same source that leaked the M4 MacBook Pro ahead of its official announcement last year. The video offers an early look at the performance of the unannounced M5 chip in a device that is physically identical to the current M4 model.

The device carries a production date of August 2025 and ships in Apple's thinner packaging, which omits a power adapter. The video also confirms the M4's folio keyboard fits the new model perfectly. One of the more notable cosmetic changes is on the back of the device, which features only an Apple logo and lacks any of the usual "iPad Pro" branding or regulatory text—a minimalist design also seen on modern iPhones. While there have been rumors of Apple adding a second front camera in portrait orientation, it is not clear from the video if this change has been implemented.

The device identifies itself as an iPad Pro with an M5 chip, running iPadOS 26.0. The M5 chip reportedly features a 9-core CPU, the same core count as the M4, but with an increased L2 cache from 4MB to 6MB. Geekbench 6 tests show the M5 is about 10% faster in single-core performance and 15% faster in multi-core. The benchmarks also show the 256GB model with 12GB of RAM, an increase from the 8GB found in the current 256GB/512GB M4 iPad Pro models.

Graphics performance sees a significant boost, with the Metal score jumping 38% over the M4. AnTuTu benchmarks, however, presented a more mixed result. In that test, the M4's CPU actually outscored the M5, though the newer chip still led in GPU performance by about 8%.

This leak aligns with a report from earlier this year suggesting an M5-powered iPad Pro was already in advanced testing for a launch as early as October. A more recent product roadmap leak also pointed to an M5 iPad Pro arriving this fall, followed by M5-powered Macs in early 2026.
