Apple's manufacturing push in India has hit a massive financial milestone. The company has exported a record $50 billion worth of iPhones from the country since joining the government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in fiscal year 2022.

Apple Exports Record $50 Billion in iPhones From India [Report]

According to data accessed by the Economic Times, this cumulative total was reached by December 2025. The pace of production has accelerated significantly in the current fiscal year, with nearly $16 billion in exports recorded in just the first nine months of FY26. For comparison, rival Samsung shipped approximately $17 billion worth of devices over a five-year period ending in FY25.

Apple currently operates through five iPhone assembly plants in the region—three run by Tata Electronics and two by Foxconn. This manufacturing base anchors a local supply chain that has swelled to nearly 45 companies, producing components for both domestic use and global distribution.

This surge in local assembly has pushed smartphones to become India's number one export for FY25, a massive leap from where the industry stood a decade ago. iPhones are driving the majority of that volume, accounting for roughly 75 percent of shipments leaving the country. It reflects a supply chain that is rapidly expanding beyond just final assembly, with Apple recently increasing AirPods production and holding preliminary talks to package chips in the region.

The current PLI scheme is scheduled to wrap up in March 2026, but officials have signaled that government support will likely continue to help Indian manufacturers compete with established hubs like China and Vietnam. To keep things moving, several key Apple partners—including Foxconn, Tata, and ATL—have already been selected for a new round of incentives focused specifically on component manufacturing.

The manufacturing success is matched by strong sales performance in the region. CEO Tim Cook highlighted an all-time revenue record in India during the company's most recent earnings call, and market data showed a sales surge during the local festive season helped keep the iPhone 16 at the top of the global bestseller charts.
