Supply chain feedback indicates Apple plans to release the second-generation iPhone Air this fall, countering recent speculation that the device had been delayed until 2027.
According to a post on Weibo from leaker Fixed Focus Digital, production line sources say the device is still scheduled to launch in the autumn window of this year. The leaker directly disputed claims that the handset had been pushed back to late 2027, expressing surprise at rumors suggesting such a lengthy delay.
The report characterizes the upcoming model as a routine upgrade with only minor changes over the first generation. Notably, the source denies that the device will see major specification cuts, suggesting it will retain the core feature set of the current model while delivering incremental improvements.
This latest claim adds to a growing set of conflicting reports surrounding the ultra-thin device's future. Earlier this month, a report from The Elec suggested Apple was targeting 2027 for the next iteration in order to adopt new OLED technology. That followed a November report in which The Information claimed the model had been shelved due to weak sales. However, a separate specs leak from just last week included the "iPhone Air 2" alongside the iPhone 18 lineup, listing it with a 6.55-inch display.
The first-generation iPhone Air had a rocky debut, with analysts reporting that Apple drastically cut production shortly after launch amid collapsing demand. Despite that reception, Fixed Focus Digital has consistently maintained that a successor remains on the schedule for this fall.
