Apple's new AirPods 5 are now available to pre-order on Amazon ahead of their September 18 release. Both configurations are sold and shipped by Amazon.com, with pricing matching Apple's launch prices.
Announced yesterday, the new generation brings Active Noise Cancellation to both models, eliminating the need to buy the more expensive version to get ANC. Apple says the earbuds remove up to 50 percent more external noise than AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation.
Both versions also include Adaptive Audio, Transparency mode, Conversation Awareness, and Personalized Spatial Audio. Live Translation requires compatible hardware, current software and firmware, and Apple Intelligence, with availability varying by language and region.
The extra $20 buys more than wireless charging. The higher-end model adds swipe controls for adjusting volume on the stem and extends listening time with ANC enabled from up to four hours to five hours per charge. Including the case, those figures rise to 20 and 22 hours, respectively.
Its case supports Qi-compatible chargers and an Apple Watch charger in addition to USB-C, and includes a speaker to help locate it with Find My. The standard model's case charges through USB-C.
Both configurations have also been added to the iClarified Price Tracker, where you can check current retailer pricing and follow future price changes:
