Apple's First Foldable iPhone Enters Production With 0.15mm Display Crease [Rumor]

Apple has reportedly placed production orders for its first foldable iPhone, with a new supply chain post claiming the device is confirmed to launch later this year.



The latest details come from the Weibo account Fixed Focus Digital, a source that regularly tracks Apple's manufacturing activity. According to the post, production lines have indeed seen orders for Apple's foldable display. The source says pricing will be relatively conservative and claims the display crease is controlled to under 0.15 millimeters, with a crease angle measuring less than 2.5 degrees.


Those measurements match earlier reports that Apple is developing a visually crease-free display using specialized glass. Keeping the physical indentation under 0.15mm would reduce the visible seam compared to existing foldables. Samsung Display also recently showcased a new crease-less foldable OLED panel at CES, which has been linked to Apple's upcoming device.

The leaker described the overall product strength as solid but did not provide additional detail on specifications. While earlier industry estimates suggested the high-end convertible could carry a price tag well over $2,000, the mention of relatively conservative pricing may indicate Apple is aiming to remain competitive with established foldables from rivals.

The foldable device is expected to sit at the top of Apple's product stack, sharing premium internal specifications with the rest of the 2026 lineup. Supply chain rumors have previously indicated the hardware will feature a massive internal battery to handle the dual-screen power draw and rely on a side-mounted Touch ID sensor to maintain an incredibly thin chassis when closed.

Competitors are already preparing for Apple's entry into the space. Just last month, reports emerged that Samsung is ramping up production of a Wide Fold smartphone featuring a similar 4:3 passport-style aspect ratio ahead of Apple's expected launch. Apple also appears to be treating the segment as a longer-term initiative, as engineers are reportedly exploring a smaller clamshell flip model to follow this initial release.


Fixed Focus Digital has been an active voice regarding Apple's manufacturing schedules lately, recently claiming that production testing phases for the iPhone 18 Pro began earlier this week.
