New CAD Models Allegedly Reveal Apple's Foldable iPhone Design

Sonny Dickson has shared new 3D CAD models that allegedly show Apple's first foldable iPhone. The files offer one of the clearest looks yet at the rumored device's overall design.

The models show the handset both folded and unfolded, highlighting a wide horizontal camera module that stretches across the top of the rear panel. The housing contains two lenses and a flash, matching recent supply chain leaks. Apple's move away from its traditional square camera bump likely helps make room for the hinge and internal battery layout.

When opened, the CAD files show a large, tablet-like display with a clean, uninterrupted screen area. A small punch-hole camera appears in the top-left corner of the inner display. Industry reports suggest this inner display will measure around 7.8 inches, while the outer cover screen will come in just under 5.3 inches. The renders also show flat edges and a notably slim chassis, backing up rumors that the phone relies on a specialized titanium and liquid metal hinge and a side-mounted Touch ID sensor to keep the overall thickness down.

Apple is expected to place the foldable at the top of its iPhone lineup. It will reportedly share high-end internals with the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, including the A20 Pro chip and 12GB of RAM. The leak comes as manufacturing partners have reportedly begun production orders for the device's specialized crease-free display panels ahead of a possible launch later this year.
