Leaked images of an alleged iPhone 18 Pro prototype and corresponding screen protectors could offer the clearest look yet at a significantly smaller Dynamic Island.
An image shared by the account @earlyappleleaks shows what appears to be an iPhone 18 Pro with a compact pill-shaped cutout. By shining a flashlight over the display, the photo reveals a small circular punch-hole hidden beneath the screen at the top left. This suggests Apple has successfully relocated some Face ID hardware to shrink the visible interface.
Backing up the prototype leak, frequent supply chain source Ice Universe posted photos of screen protectors that feature dramatically smaller cutouts. While the visual evidence for a shrunken Dynamic Island is mounting, sources are currently split on which devices will get the upgrade. The initial prototype leak claimed the base models will retain the current cutout size, but Ice Universe indicated the reduction will apply to all three iPhone 18 models.
The physical evidence aligns with rumors we have been tracking for months. Earlier this year, reports indicated the camera and sensor cutout could shrink by roughly 35 percent as Apple pushes toward an under-display design. Despite the smaller island, the outer display borders are expected to remain identical to the current generation, matching recent claims that the display bezels will go unchanged.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro models alongside its first foldable device this fall. The standard iPhone 18 is reportedly facing a launch delay into 2027 as part of a staggered release strategy, which may explain the discrepancy in how many models will actually feature the updated display technology at launch.
