Apple is working on the color palette for its next wave of premium smartphones, and a deep cherry hue is emerging as the signature finish for the iPhone 18 Pro.
Details obtained by Macworld indicate Apple is developing a "Dark Cherry" option for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. We previously tracked supply chain whispers that Apple was evaluating a dark red, and the latest information suggests the direction is a deeper tone closer to wine than a bright fruit punch. The color is positioned as this year's standout finish, following the vibrant Cosmic Orange on the current generation.
The rest of the Pro lineup is said to include Light Blue, Dark Gray, and a classic Silver. The blue variant is described as similar to the Mist Blue used on the standard iPhone 17. Internally, Apple is reportedly using specific Pantone codes for testing, including Dark Cherry (6076), Light Blue (2121), Dark Gray (426C), and Silver (427C). Since the devices have not yet entered mass production, the company still has time to adjust the lineup or drop a color entirely.
Alongside the color information, leaked CAD drawings provide a closer look at a few physical refinements. The schematics show a smaller Dynamic Island, aligning with recently leaked dummy units that point to the interface cutout shrinking this cycle. The renders also suggest a slightly reduced gap between the rear glass and the camera bump, although it's unclear whether this reflects a finalized design change or an earlier iteration.
Details are also emerging for Apple's foldable device, which has been rumored to launch under the iPhone Ultra name. Apple is said to be working on more neutral finishes, including silver and white, along with an Indigo option similar to the Deep Blue seen on previous Pro models.
When unfolded, the device reportedly measures just 4.7 millimeters thick, making it thinner than the 5.6mm iPhone Air. The schematics show a book-style design with two rear cameras, a selfie camera on the outer display, and another positioned in the upper-left corner of the inner screen.
Apple is expected to unveil the foldable alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models in September, though some analysts believe the foldable could reach stores later in the fall. Meanwhile, the base iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and a new Air model have reportedly been pushed to early 2027 as part of a broader shift in Apple's release timeline.
