Apple is expected to introduce a bold new primary color for the iPhone 18 Pro later this year, with a rich red finish emerging as a leading possibility. According to a recent post on Weibo from Digital Chat Station, a "Deep Red" option is likely being considered for the upcoming flagship.
The leaker noted that several Android manufacturers are already prototyping similar shades for their next-generation devices. This kind of movement across the supply chain can point to broader color trends for an upcoming hardware cycle, though Apple's final selection may still differ.
This aligns with earlier reports about Apple's 2026 color strategy. We previously covered claims that the company was considering a deep red as a potential follow-up to the Cosmic Orange finish that reportedly helped boost sales in China. While other shades like purple and brown have been tested internally, red appears to be one of the stronger candidates.
The shift toward a more vibrant Pro color comes as Apple is also rumored to skip a standard black finish for a second consecutive year. Moving away from traditional dark tones could help differentiate the Pro lineup more clearly.
While Apple continues to finalize its color lineup, more concrete details about the hardware have begun to surface. Leaked dummy units point to the iPhone 18 Pro getting slightly thicker, with reports suggesting a move to around 8.75mm to make room for larger batteries. At the same time, the display bezels are said to stay largely the same as the current generation, though a smaller Dynamic Island is also expected.
Rich burgundy tones have also appeared in earlier renders. If current supply chain signals hold, a deep red finish could emerge as a standout option for Apple's fall lineup.
