Apple might skip a standard black finish for the iPhone 18 Pro this year, continuing a recent shift away from one of the lineup's most traditional color options. The detail surfaced as the company finalizes its color palette for the upcoming flagship.
According to a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, the leaker known as Instant Digital claims the black color option has been cut from the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. Apple already skipped a true black finish on the iPhone 17 Pro, marking the first time its Pro models shipped without a dark option. This latest claim suggests that change could carry over for a second generation. No reason was given for the decision.
The report adds to an evolving picture of what the device could look like. Earlier this year, supply chain chatter suggested Apple was experimenting with several new finishes for the premium models. We previously covered reports that the company is considering a deep red finish, while purple and brown options have also surfaced during early testing.
Instant Digital has shared multiple details about Apple's unreleased hardware in recent months. The account recently debunked rumors of an asymmetrical corner camera layout. Beyond color, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to feature a smaller Dynamic Island, 12GB of RAM, and a 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip when it launches this fall.
