Apple is expected to unveil a major overhaul of Siri and its next wave of artificial intelligence features at the Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, June 8. The keynote will introduce significant changes to Siri, new generative capabilities, and quality-of-life updates across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27.
Much of what is expected to be announced has been detailed in recent reports from Mark Gurman. Unlike last year's visual overhaul, the 2026 operating systems focus heavily on reliability. Apple is targeting faster performance, improved battery life, and fewer bugs, taking a stabilization approach reminiscent of iOS 12. The updates will also lay the software foundation for the upcoming foldable iPhone.
The core of the presentation will be a massive Siri rebuild. Apple plans to transform Siri from a voice-control system into a do-it-all AI companion by utilizing Google's Gemini models. The assistant will get a standalone chatbot app that can sync conversations across devices via iCloud. Users will also be able to continue conversations through the dedicated Siri app, which is expected to maintain chat history while offering an option to automatically delete conversations after a set period of time. A new Search or Ask interface will slide down from the top center of the screen, replacing the familiar glowing border with a subtle animation housed directly in the Dynamic Island.
Functionality is seeing an equally large upgrade. Siri will be capable of handling multiple commands at once, looking at on-screen context, and tapping into a user's personal data to cross-reference calendars, emails, and notes. Apple is adding an in-house web search product that delivers summaries, rich images, and AI-generated answers. Users will even have the option to route certain prompts to third-party AI assistants like Claude and Gemini. Despite these sweeping changes, the new assistant is expected to carry a beta tag at launch.
Apple is also expected to unveil CoreAI, a new framework designed to make it easier for developers to integrate AI capabilities into their apps. The company is reportedly planning to open more of its AI technologies to third-party developers and agent platforms.
Visual Intelligence is becoming more prominent across the system. Apple is integrating the feature directly into a dedicated Siri mode in the Camera app, allowing it to recognize and take action on nutrition labels and contact information. The Camera app itself will become fully customizable, letting users swap out default controls for specific widgets.
Inside Photos, Apple is expected to introduce new AI-powered editing tools. The company is also testing natural-language photo editing that could arrive later in the iOS 27 cycle.
On the generative side, Apple is working to improve the visual quality of its image models. Image Playground is getting a simplified rounded interface, while a new Suggested Genmoji feature will proactively create graphics based on your photo library and typed phrases.
The Shortcuts app will let users build automations simply by typing out their goals using natural language, removing much of the manual setup required today. Apple is also adding a systemwide grammar checker to complement its existing writing tools.
Mac users can look forward to essential cleanup work. Apple plans to introduce refinements to the Liquid Glass interface on macOS 27 to resolve text readability issues caused by transparency and shadow effects. Across iOS and iPadOS, Apple is adding undo and redo controls for Home Screen layouts, a new sliding animation for the keyboard, and notifications that now swipe in from the left side of the screen.
Several core apps are getting practical adjustments as well. Safari will use AI for automatic Safari tab organization and feature a redesigned start page. The Wallet app is adding the ability to create custom digital passes, alongside a new Apple Cash feature that lets users split group bills just by photographing a receipt. Elsewhere, the AirPods settings menu is being completely reorganized, and iOS 27 will support third-party casting protocols instead of AirPlay for users in the EU.
