Apple has seeded the second developer beta of macOS 27 Golden Gate, continuing the testing phase for its next major desktop operating system.
The latest build carries version number 26A5368g and arrives alongside the second developer betas of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. Dropping two weeks after the initial WWDC 2026 release, this cycle focuses heavily on interface refinements and a massive expansion of Apple Intelligence across the Mac.
Visually, Apple is addressing readability complaints surrounding its Liquid Glass design language. The update introduces a new settings slider that lets users manually adjust the transparency and opacity of interface elements. Apple has also standardized the corner radius across system windows, implemented edge-to-edge sidebars, and introduced uniform toolbars to create a more consistent and focused workspace.
The update integrates the new Siri AI directly into Spotlight, replacing the traditional search bar with a versatile Search or Ask interface. A dedicated Siri app is also available to manage conversation history. Backed by new indexing architecture, the assistant can utilize Visual Intelligence to answer questions about what is currently on the screen. The operating system also adds a systemwide Write with Siri tool, automatic AI tab organization in Safari, and a rebuilt Image Playground app capable of generating photorealistic imagery.
Registered developers can download the new beta by navigating to System Settings, clicking General, and selecting Software Update. The full restore image is available through the Apple Developer Center for those performing clean installations.
