X has officially launched X Money in the United States, expanding the service beyond its invite-only beta and beginning a rollout to select Premium and Premium+ subscribers. The financial platform combines digital banking, peer-to-peer payments, and a Visa debit card within the X app, with support for Apple Wallet.
Users can instantly send, receive, and request money from other X users without fees or transaction limits. Each account includes a virtual X Card that can be added to Apple Pay for contactless purchases, while users can also order a physical metal card.
Premium+ subscribers can earn up to 6.00% APY on eligible balances. Premium subscribers can qualify for the same rate after meeting direct-deposit requirements. Eligible purchases made with the X Card earn 3% cash back, with rewards automatically deposited into the account each week.
Deposit accounts are held at Cross River Bank, Member FDIC. Balances are eligible for up to $250,000 in standard FDIC insurance, while X's cash sweep program can distribute funds across participating banks to provide up to $10 million in aggregate coverage per ownership category.
Additional features include receiving eligible direct deposits up to two days early, mobile check deposit, bill payments, wire transfers, electronic check issuance, and free ATM withdrawals worldwide. X says fees charged by ATM operators are reimbursed, and the card does not carry foreign transaction fees.
X Money is currently rolling out to select U.S. Premium and Premium+ subscribers and will expand to more users over time. Some new users may also receive a $15 welcome deposit when joining the service.
