Steve Wozniak has penned a letter to the FCC asking them to keep the Internet free.
We have very few government agencies that the populace views as looking out for them, the people. The FCC is one of these agencies that is still wearing a white hat. Not only is current action on Net Neutrality one of the most important times ever for the FCC, it's probably the most momentous and watched action of any government agency in memorable times in terms of setting our perception of whether the government represents the wealthy powers or the average citizen, of whether the government is good or is bad. This decision is important far beyond the domain of the FCC itself.
You can read the entire letter over at The Atlantic.
The Government should be in the role of defending our borders and providing courts to settle civil and criminal disputes. This net neutrality stuff looks great on paper, but it's a prisoner's delima providing profits to one industry at the cost of another. Using the Government to settle this matter will only give it authority in yet another area, how many are there left?
Listen, I just got off the phone with a guy from computrace, I just assisted in recovering a stolen laptop- that recovery software is built into the chip now- the the bios, the actual freaking chip. If you buy a moderate business laptop- odds are it has a gps computrace system. This is fine for corporations and private citizens to use, but once the Government get's an angle on it then it will cost you privacy and freedom.
