AT&T is planning to integrate the iPhone into its U-verse suite of Internet television and VoIP services, according to a Reuters report. This will include adding features such as using the iPhone as a remote control.
At an event on Monday AT&T showcased recently developed technologies that will be marketed in the future.
We're looking at the whole landscape, of what people use, and what's out there in the home," said AT&T Chief Technology Officer John Donovan, indicating that some of the services may be launched by the years end.
Examples Services - Listen to voice mails on your screen - Download shows from your DVR onto your iPhone. - Use iPhone to navigate channels like a normal remote control - Virtually hurling tomatoes at the TV screen using iPhone applications.

Orb (orb.com) already does this, and they are Orb team is currently beta testing an iPhone app. Orb can stream all types of media to any phone (including iphone), I already can stream my movies on my hard drive to my iphone or my songs or my photos, or hell even my web cam.

Putting DVR'ed shows onto the iPhone is pretty freakin tight. The iPhone as a remote would be a neat trick, but not as useful. Either way, I'm glad to see AT&T is heading in the right direction
