Apple's second-generation iPhone Air could address some of the biggest compromises of the original model, with new supply chain details pointing to dual cameras, a 120Hz display, and a larger battery.
According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the iPhone Air 2 is expected to feature a 6.55-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and the Dynamic Island. The device is also said to be powered by Apple's upcoming 2-nanometer A20 series chip while retaining 3D Face ID for biometric authentication.
One of the most notable rumored upgrades is the camera system. The leak claims the handset will feature a 48-megapixel dual-camera setup, adding an ultrawide camera alongside the main sensor. This aligns with earlier indications that Apple was developing a dual-camera array following criticism of the original model's single-camera design. The battery is also expected to come in at roughly 3,500 mAh, an increase of around 350 mAh, or about 11%, over the current iPhone Air's 3,149 mAh cell, improving capacity while maintaining the device's ultra-thin design.
Digital Chat Station also claims the iPhone Air 2 could be the only ultra-thin flagship smartphone released next year. Several competitors have reportedly scaled back their own ultra-thin smartphone projects following weaker-than-expected demand for the category. Apple is currently expected to debut the updated device in the spring of 2027.
