Apple TV is expanding its slate with "Guilty Creatures," a new true-crime thriller series starring three-time Emmy and Golden Globe winner Julia Garner ("Ozark," "Weapons"), who will also executive produce.
Craig Gillespie ("I, Tonya," "Your Friends & Neighbors," "Pam & Tommy") is set to direct and executive produce the adaptation. Stuart Zicherman ("The Shrink Next Door," "The Americans," "Sweetbitter") will serve as showrunner and executive producer, with Sarah DeLappe ("Bodies Bodies Bodies") adapting the book for the screen. The series is produced by Tomorrow Studios, an ITV Studios partner.
Based on Mikita Brottman's true-crime book Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida, the series follows the relationship and subsequent murder committed by two young, adulterous but deeply religious lovers. Set in the Florida panhandle, it explores the psychological toll of living as killers for 18 years.
The project was developed through Tomorrow Studios' first-look deals with Garner's Alma Margo and Gillespie's Fortunate Jack Productions. Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner executive produce through Tomorrow Studios, alongside Garner through Alma Margo. Zicherman and DeLappe also serve as executive producers, while Gillespie and Annie Marter executive produce through Fortunate Jack Productions. Brottman is also an executive producer on the series.
No premiere date has been announced. "Guilty Creatures" joins a growing lineup of Apple TV thrillers, including the psychological horror Cape Fear and the heist drama Lucky starring Anya Taylor-Joy.
