I succesfully jailbreaked my iphone 3g with firmware 2.2.1. and it works great. I had slight problems with ipsw file. After some delay I removed zip extension and I was able to find ipsw file when QuickPwn asked me to browse for 2.2.1 firmware. Go to Start, Control panel, Folder Options, View, Hide extensions for known file type and then rename folder and remove zip extension. I hope this helps. Bye

When I get to the `Browse for ipsw` step, I put in the file, 2.2.1, and it should be working, but the blue arrow wont load, and so I cant carry on with the jailbreaking. Nor can I see the iPod that should be on the left hand side. (the one that gets a check mark). Help please?

Hello guys,
I need help!!!
i had a 2.2 jailbroken /unlocked iphone. I had to do a factory setting ( restore) unfortunately after the restore the phone came with 02.30.03 firmware , 2.2.1( 5H11) version , thats how my phone is right now. ofcourse Ican not use it because yellowsnow does not unlocks this version. I read & heard different kinds of things and really dont know what to do. I definitely need help on this matter. Can somebody tell me or explain me how to make this phone 2.2 firmware with (5G77) version just like the way I bought it from the buyer.
by the way which itune version should I have on my computer to do this precess?
Thank you and look forward to hear from the nice people out there who can really help me.
Thanks

Hi all, Pwned my iPhone 3G this morning, took bout 15-20mins & went without any problems, just had to re-sync my apps & iTunes afterwards as the re-store lost everything so make sure you do a back up first. I bought my iPhone unlocked - a genuine factory unlock which was network/carrier free in the UK so I think this helped.

Do not use download accelerators, just right click the file and save link as... and select the folder to save.

Put the phone in dfu mode google how to.
Also make sure u only connect your phone
on a USB 2.0 which probably means one on
the rear of your pc.u only needed to restore
if it needs updating which I suspect it doesn't

got an iphone with FW 2.2.1 and baseband 2.30.03 from a friend in canada...since i can't unlock it for now..i plan to have i jailbroken at least for now..but the jailbreak procedure says i need to connect it to itunes and select it..but then itunes can't even recognize it since it says insert valid sim without pin-lock to activate...but since i don't have the original sim...how can i jailbreak it if i can't even select it in itunes? please help..thanks..

Does no one read existing posts there is an unlock for 2.21
which involves Downgrading baseband go tutorials on this website.
Other thing is put sim card in different phone to try and switch off
sim lock.you don't need iTunes to unlock anyway the firmware is already
installed
Reply · Like · Mark as Spam
van - April 18, 2009 at 4:10am
i thot you can't downgrade the baseband 2.30.03 if you're bootloader is already 5.9 so that's why my only intent is to jailbreak and not unlock it...however itunes can't recognize the phone if i don't have the valid sim ..so how do i bypass that?

Dear James,
I read the totorial to downgrade the baseband from2.30 to 2.28 but that needs cydia. This iphone does not even have that. To have that it shud be jailbroken and to jailbreak it shud downgrade. So u see it is a catch 22 situation for me.
Please can u suggest something??
Cheers,

1) start iTunes, connect iphone,
2) hold down power and home button until iPhone shuts down, keep home button pressed until iTunes sees an iPhone that needs to be restored.

Are you sure this phone wasn't unlocked when you purchased it.
If you are try the process again but follow the howto carefully. If it was
unlocked when you purchased it you might have long wait for the unlock.

make sure you only use usb socket on rear of pc.
Some are only usb 1.0 and needs to be 2.0.
failing that use a different pc
