AT&T Launches LTE Based Home Internet Service

AT&T Launches LTE Based Home Internet Service

Posted July 30, 2013 at 7:37pm by iClarified
AT&T will be offering a new cellular based home phone and Internet service that will run off their LTE, and '4G' HSPA+ areas.

Those who are not in a service area for AT&T's traditional home phone or Internet services may find AT&T's latest offer enticing. The carrier started offering this wireless powered option in select markets last week. The service works through a modem (free with a two year contract) that connects to AT&T's cellular network to provide home and Internet service. You must have an AT&T signal in order to get this service and speeds will mimic what you get on your cellular device (since the modem will use the same cell site as your phone).

AT&T is offering unlimited nationwide calls for $20 a month, but Internet service starts at $60 per month at 10GB. Mobile Share customers can add their device for a $30 a month plan with unlimited nationwide calling and 10GB of shared data.

The device only works in HSPA+ and LTE areas in the following markets:

● Baltimore
● Delaware
● Eastern Pennsylvania
● Southern New Jersey
● Virginia
● Washington D.C.
● West Virginia

Note that this is different than AT&T's microcell, which is a mini cell site that sends voice and data traffic through an Internet connection.

10 GB for $60 ! Wow that is a deal ! NOT. I get 250 GB at 50 Mbps with Comcast for $70. Looks like AT&T wants to scalp people who can't get anything but satellite Internet.

I get 50Mb per second on Time Warner cable for $75 a month no need for cable TV... A Mac or PC plugged into TV with a nice surroundsound system good mouse keyboard & webcam, catch and coffee table, that means I don't need a lot of other plugged in thing either

It's still expensive at $60 / 10Gb. Unless you absolutely have no other choices this offer is not too lucrative. I would get it if it was unlimited or at least 100Gb at that price.
