There is no "upgrade" from 5 to 5c. The iPhone 5c replaces the iPhone 5. They will no longer sell it.
Think of it as a little gift. Instead of offering the previous generation in only black and white, they now offer it in many colors. Apparently Apple thought the c was for color, and not cheap as many of us wanted.
Why would you upgrade every year? You can get a new one every 2 years for close to nothing if you take good care of the old one and sell it unlocked.
The whole thing with no 5s pre-orders sucks. I don't want to wait in a line for my phone.

This is bullshit! They want an "iPhone line" around three crosstown NYC blocks, that's my guess anyway. Seeing that orders that are shipped on the 20th won't get to you on the 23rd at the absolute earliest. More likely is 24th, 25th, etc. I don't know if I'm going yet. This sucks. lol

Well not much improvement in iPhone 5S too that's why they call it iPhone 5s means iPhone 5same !!

Well, only because it's not really more affordable priced at all so therefore, the tiny drop in price makes no difference when price shopping but it does in the quality. Sucks. The 5S I'm really looking forward to.

Probably Apple has figured out that the pictures of long lines waiting for the new iPhone are really good for their stock market numbers.

I was thinking the same thing. It would make sense for the long (endless) lines to pile up outside their stores to boost image and help their stock.

Profits boost the stock not long lines with under supply . Econ 101 guy

But he said boost image and he is right about that long lines is publicity and indication of popularity

I think you're right about low inventory on the 5S. Otherwise they'd have preorder like the 5c. Should be good news for Samsung as potential Apple customers move over to Android devices. The S4 is overall a superior piece of hardware anyway as Apple falls further and further behind. I think the death of Jobs was the beginning of the end for Apple. They've lost their edge. The innovation that they were known for is gone. A fingerprint scanner is not going to make up for the lack of so many other features. By the time Apple has a phone with a competitive screen size, waterproofing, etc. it will be too little too late. I think my iPhone 5 will be my last Apple mobile device. I already have mostly switched to Android tablet (2013 Nexus 7), only using the iPad for a few apps, like the iClarified one I'm using to write this. The phone will be next.

I'm sorry to give you the bad news but Apple are going to flood the world with the 5C just to get their customers back home, it's the reason they made it in the first place fool!

I work with cell phones and I get like 10 galaxy's a day stuck because of viruses, I only get iPhones with broken screens to replace but the software keeps on going.

Probably because none of them bothered to install anti-malware apps. I've been using Android for over a year (had the original Nexus 7) and never had a problem with malware.
