Images of the upcoming LG G Flex smartphone that features a curved 6-inch display have leaked online.
Engadget posted a trio of renders depicting the new smartphone late yesterday. Notably, the smartphone is curved from top to bottom unlike the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Round which is curved from left to right.
The site was also able to confirm with its sources that the display is 6-inches in size.
Last week, LG Display announced that it was starting mass production of the world’s first flexible OLED panel for smartphones.

Well done LG, at least it looks good... I wonder how well it performs and what advantages comes from the curve... I hope it does something more than rock back and forth... and flash the time ;-)

Omg... Too funny, going back in time! Nokia banana 8110 slider phone was a very popular Symbian phone in the old days (1996). Also used in the movie The Matrix. Curve is so it fits better to the contours of your face, so better quality sound going out and coming in, or so they thought at the time. Cute :-)

The curved displays are so that the phone can rock back and forth when a call comes in (with vibration mode) as a visual indicator. Also when dropped you don't hit the screen face on, reducing chances of screen breakage. The curvature also reflects light, and in strong sunlight, is able to focus the sun's beams onto your retina, etching the display into you eye - their version of retina display.

What is the purpose of a curved phone, don't get it

To rest balls on, or make it easier to break it when you sit down with it in the back pocket, make a helmet, boat, or follow co.'s footsteps!

If the screen and phone doesn't flex what's the point? I agree with who ever said they are rushing this curved display thing out. So far I don't see any good use of the technology. I'm looking forward to something better though. I don't care who makes it just would like to see some thought put into it.

And the point of this curve display it's ??? Any benefits? Samsung and LG are just rushing their products , samsung round the only new future on the display it's that when you press down on one side you will see if you have new notifications , isn't the same as pressing down on the home button ? Lol

Looks better than the samsung version but still will look very awkward in your pocket. I don't see myself changing to a curved screen anytime soon. I think a flexible screen would be amazing but permanently curved not so much.

Because the phone was made for comfortable warm feelings, I see why every phone but iPhone suffers this!

But if you assume apple fanboys love it, maybe apple is smart not to do this after all! Keep lining up for yours samsheeps! Whether we like it or not, it's what some people want if it's their way!

odedoo1 - October 15, 2013 at 7:01am
Apple where sure that they will be the first to use curve screen for the iWatch just as they where sure that they will be the first to make a Bluetooth watch but it leaked and Samsung stole the idea and because apple don't make their own screens they also lost the race of curved screens but as usual when Apple will come out with stuff like that you can bet it will kick everybody else's ass!!!

Useless. Simply useless.

I don't see the point in the galaxy round. This is better as it would be easier too reach to the top, but sit on it and your phone is more likely to snap in half 〰

dNEwayz - October 15, 2013 at 4:34pm
I meant the front pocket... It's curved opposite of the shape the thigh is

Peter - October 21, 2013 at 3:37pm
If your going to "seat" on it you shouldn't be posting. It's "sit" on it!
