Samsung has officially unveiled the world's first curved display smartphone, the Samsung GALAXY ROUND.

With this pioneering curved display technology, GALAXY ROUND blends the latest smartphone screen innovations with unique design features. The sleek and thin Samsung GALAXY ROUND which equipped with a 5.7" Full HD Super AMOLED with 7.9mm thick and weighs 154g offers a comfortable hand grip feeling to user, and exclusive experiences of curved display.

Features:
As a result of its unique curved design, users can take advantage of round integration experiences like the Roll Effect that enables user to check information such as date, time, missed call and battery easily when home screen is off, and the Gravity Effect for creating visual interaction with the screen by tilting the device. For music, the Bounce UX enables users to control their music. When the GALAXY ROUND's display is off while the music player is running, a short press to the left of the device will play the previous track while a short press to the right will play the next track. For pictures and videos, the Side Mirror feature enables users to gain access to list of the album content with a left and right tilt.

The large screen size of the GALAXY ROUND provides additional benefits to users. Useful One-Hand Operation features bring a user's most desired controls closer to a preferred side of the screen. The device enables enhanced multitasking capabilities that allow users to fully utilize the larger screen through Multi Window, a feature that enables users to open more than one application on the screen, run simultaneous multiple instances of the same application or to easily share content between applications.

Availability:
Samsung GALAXY ROUND is available in Korea with Luxury Brown, and more colors will be available soon. No word on pricing yet.

This is absolutely marvelous!! I think dis will come to help most of us cos it will reduce the level of screen crashes, and if i may ask is this real? Cos it unimaginable!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless it increased back plate crashes and increases the change of losing it since it's simply removable and it may cause a new lookcof blur on sides and stretched pics and videos from looking at them!

I would use it as a guard to protect my balls while playing cricket. This phone sucks, it seems samsucks ran out ideas and and making curved phones, useless smart watches and cheap refund tricks.

Apple filed a patent for curved displays back in December last year. I think Samsung released this as a gimmick to steal( just like apples ideas) the spot light off the 5s. The curve adds thickness and seems like it would do too much sliding around. Maybe that is why apple didn't do anything with curved glass.

Listen guys, u all know I hate Samsung with a passion and love Apple. But I call a spade a spade, this IS innovation and the first to be released, however all of the big cell makers are already using curved glass technology, including Apple and Google. BUT the difference between this and Apples release is that Apple will perfect this technology, and create a beautiful, ground breaking product. Unlike Samsung and the galaxy gear, this is a rushed piece of garbage... It's a phone that rocks to show u the time? Common, Samsung needs to stop trying to be the "first" because Apple is always trying to be the "best". Now, Samsung fans.. Your Argument Is Invalid

I cant disagree with you, and that is why people now still buy iPhones and iPads not S4 or Galaxy tab simply because it is a perfected product even though it has much less features but most people prefer quality now these days.

Why is everyone hating on this? You people say "Samsung copies apple, they have nothing that doesn't copy apple." But here they are making the fist device I have seen that takes advantage of a curved screen and you are all bashing it. Same with the galaxy gear. They beat apple to it suck it up. They are trying and no one is giving them credit. With that said I can almost guarantee someone is gonna bash this comment. Or call me a fanboy in just stating facts.
