Apple to Release 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 'As Early As September'

Posted March 27, 2014 at 6:59pm by
Apple will reportedly release a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 'as early as September', according to Nikkei Asian Review.

The report says that manufacturers have apparently begun making components for the new smartphones including fingerprint sensors and chips for liquid-crystal drivers.

Mass production of LCD panels will start as early as the April-June quarter at Sharp's Kameyama factory, Japan Display's Mobara plant, and at other facilities, according to sources. LG Electronics will supply panels as well. The new handset's display resolution is expected to be significantly higher than that of current models.

It's been widely reported that Apple is working on two larger iPhones; however, recent reports have suggested that perhaps only one of them will be released in September.

iPhone 6 better come with new cool stuff added and not just little things like finger-whatever. I want to see big things like integrated laser keyboard and a good projector, lol. I know, "dream on" right? Well, it doesn't hurt to dream a little.

Not that I'm one for knocking Apple iPhones since I have the iPhone 5, not the 5S, because buying it for the fingerprint scanner isn't a seller to me. But just because a phone has a bigger screen doesn't make it better because if we use that logic, the Note is far superior to the S4 and S5. I think a 4.7 inch screen would be nice but not Samsung size, because you can make an edge to edge display which is also cool. 5.5 inches is something I think would interest business folks who don't want to get an iPad Mini or iPad but don't like the Samsung Galaxy.

If they do release two screen sizes, I hope both versions will have the same internal specs and features which the only difference will be the size of the screen. Because I am partial to the smaller version. It would pain me if the 5.5" one have better specs.

Honestly, i dont think the iPhone needs to be any bigger. Apple should focus on more innovative things. I think they should add a feature like the fingerprint scanner on the 5s. Not another unlock method, but something equivalent.

The 5S already introduced the fingerprint scanner. Even the home button and gold style in this picture is also enough to prove it.

You do know that the finger print sensor was one of the key selling points of the 5S right? or maybe you just didn't word your comment correctly

Time to get what you've been begging for phablet fans.

Time to sell my reserve iPhone 5 and keep the 5S which will become my reserve when I get the 6 but there is no way I'll get the phablet one. The smaller the better and it better have a powerful new A8 chip and more RAM if not it won't be worth upgrading till the 6S.
