Apple has introduced five new USB-C adapters and accessories to be used with its new 12-inch Retina MacBook. The new MacBook features just a single USB Type-C port and users will need the new adapters to connect to many of their external devices.

I like this Macbook, I like what they did to reduce dimensions to the limit. This is logically not the laptop for everyone, this seems to be not clear to all this people screaming around. Miniaturization comes at a price and apple well we know it, it's never bean cheap. This is a very good machine for people that travels a lot and has a lot to do with presentations, "word" and similar stuff. Certainly not for pictures or video professionals. As much as I was already tempted by a Macbook Air before, I still need a dedicated graphic card therefore I'm not the customer those products should appeal.

You do realize MacBooks have graphics chip right? If that's what you're referring to.

You do realize I used the word dedicated? Because that makes a difference.

This just add on what is said. This machine (as the Macbook Air and the pro 13") is not for me because I need a dedicated graphic card which as your link also shows is available only on the 15" model. The other apple laptop offerings just have a shared memory graphic card, the 15" model has both.

And not all of them

I guess I'm not the target for this computer at all. I could never ever see myself even possibly consider this computer when the MacBook Pro is still available. At the entry price you get what? 1" less screen. Lower resolution. Less connect ability. Less battery life. Far less computing power. I understand you get less weight and no fan. But all the cons do not add up to $200 increase in price. Oh well. I'm sure some people think it's the bees knees.

What not to like? For those who miss the old ports, there will eventually be a MagSafe to usb-c, thunderbolt to usb-c, and much more, or better yet, combine those into one whole power strip-like hub to plus into the Usb-c to make it look like old macbook ports are built onto it. These are the only downsides some see, but to me, it's not that much of a problem or not really one at all.

Wow really guys, y'all act like this will be the only mac available once its launched. Let's not forget about the "PRO" line up, for us PRO users. If you don't like the new design then don't buy it, it's as simple as that. Problem solved.

the down side to this is that you can't charge and have a usb device plug in at the same time

gamerscul9870 - March 10, 2015 at 1:11pm
there's going to eventually be split usb-c ports to plug it in. Think of it as power strips except make with usb-c. There will soon be one of these.

Good luck trying to prove some well made super strong cable. By this so-called flimsy charging, it's very little but even shipping is free. What happened to MagSafe? It's combined with usb for a reason. It's the only way to achieve something this thin to also be light, but who knows about the grip it gets.

Could Apple nickel and dime us any more? This is frustrating!

Me - March 10, 2015 at 3:28am
more like bags of nickles and dimes for those prices. Apple has been fleecing its customers. And they seem to like it.

More like greeting customers unlike the likes of you! It's the fact they understand quality when they see it because they're that familiar with how high ranked they are.

You daisy chain cables. You can charge and use USB at the same time (as long as you get a multiport adapter). Look them up on the website. I'm more concerned about not seeing a DisplayPort adapter. My monitor doesn't work as designed without one.

gamerscul9870 - March 10, 2015 at 2:41am
Daisy chain all in one like less mess just like iMacs power cord (you know where you connect a separate computer to monitor).

Having only one port that can only used for one thing at a time is a bad idea. They should at least have had 2 such ports so that you could use a sub device and have the power cord plugged in at the same time. Nevertheless it probably would not stop me from buying this new MacBook. Maybe a third party will make a dual port adapter that will allow power and usb together.

gamerscul9870 - March 10, 2015 at 1:58am
Just wait for dual ports to plug into the usb-c port (like connecting 2 aux into one so 2 people can use the same device and listen to music). This will help I hope, or better yet, combine every cable to connect to usb-c like 6-in-1.

Mr F - March 10, 2015 at 1:37am
wait, so if you want to charge, you can't use it for usb port?
0
gamerscul9870 - March 10, 2015 at 1:52am
Yes you can. Apple mentioned it's 6 cables combined into 1. The new usb-c port acts like a charger, thunderbolt port, hdmi port, and any other port from previous macs let along aux.

On the upside at least it can go quite a while on a charge so maybe not as big an issue as it might at first seem.

Explain where the thunderbolt part is? How do you hook this up to a Thunderbolt Display????

gamerscul9870 - March 10, 2015 at 3:06pm
Watch the keynote of the 12-inch macbook part to figure that out.
