There are all kinds of patents for things that are not commercially viable, or even technologically possible yet. I know it sounds exciting, but pulling electricity out of the air is far far away in the future. If you read articles on this subject, you will learn.

The only problem with wireless charging is,.. ya still need to plug the charger. Either way it has to be plugged in.

Really! Wow! - April 26, 2017 at 5:24pm
Holy crap! Oh wait, I had that on my S7 Edge & now my S8+ . Nevermind. Wonder why they're not the most expensive company any longer (not to mention not the most selling smart phone brand). Ouch.

Apple is always late, but still earns most of the profit. So it's better to be late.

Just curious do we know if that wireless charging that works up to 15 ft away can work threw aluminum? It would have to some otherwise you should have to have the back of your phone facing the base at all times for it to work. From the rumors that's the type apple is mostly pushing toward so maybe it uses that aluminum to actually catch the wireless charge. Nokia patented a wireless charging tech a long time ago that used the cellular waves to pull energy and charge so if that's how this works it could just need exposed antenna bands which it will have and the phone can have an aluminum shell.

Huh? WTF are you talking about? None of what you're saying is even close to having commercial applications yet. Wireless charging as used here just means you don't have to connect the phone to a cable, but you will have to put it on a charging mat or base.

Plus aluminum can't "catch" a charge, whatever that means... as David pointed out, aluminum cannot carry a charge. Dude...

Aluminum cannot support any wireless cell phone charging...15feet away or otherwise ..blocks energy transfer

Why are you assuming the new iPhone will have an aluminium back?

Nokia had it working back in its day and apple just filed a patient that's pretty much the exact same thing that I was saying. No need for a glass back if your charging threw frequency.
