Volkswagen has announced an update to its VW Car-Net app that lets iPhone owners use Siri to interact with their vehicles.
Once logged into the VW Car-Net App, owners can use Siri to lock and unlock their vehicle, check estimated mileage with the fuel or charge left in the vehicle, and enable the Flash or Honk & Flash commands. For example, an owner would simply say to their Apple device, “Hey Siri, lock my car.”
Additionally, VW Car-Net now offers several shortcuts that can be added to Siri with a personalized phrase, including a start/stop for charging, defroster, and climate; a set climate temperature command; and a “where is my car” command.
“We are constantly looking at innovative ways to make VW Car-Net more convenient and relevant for our customers,” said Abdallah Shanti, EVP, Global Chief Information Officer Volkswagen Brand & Car-IT. “With Siri Shortcuts, creating voice commands to use with our mobile app was a great opportunity to do just that! Integration with Siri helps our drivers keep eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.”
VW Car-Net Security & Service is available on the following 2014 and newer models: CC, EOS, Beetle (Convertible and Coupe), Jetta (SE with Connectivity, SEL, TDI, GLI, and Hybrid), Passat (SE, SEL Premium, including TDI and VR6), Tiguan (SE, SEL, R-Line and Limited); model year 2015 and newer Golf/GTI/R/SportWagen and e-Golf models; Golf Alltrack, Atlas and Arteon.
